Dr Eyifa-Dzidzienyo (better known as Aba) is a Ghanaian archaeologist and lecturer at the University of Ghana. Having completed her doctorate in 2017, Aba became the first woman in Ghana to earn a PhD in archaeology. She specialises in heritage management and gender, advocating for the importance of museums, education and the involvement of women in the discipline.
In our interview, Aba discusses her experiences as a female archaeologist and the value of diverse viewpoints when studying society. She goes on to explain the importance of museums as engaging sources of education, the value of artefacts in sparking interest in heritage and the return of looted Ghanaian items from European museums.
